Make lemon-aid, and make it pink!
On the first day of Millie’s summer camp I got chewed out by the director for sending her to school in her brown, patten leather mary janes. This was after I got snapped at for bringing her lunch in the wrong lunch bag – as you can imagine I was feeling pretty awesome.
Most of the time I try to be meek and take it in the shorts but I can only stand being snapped at so much – add to the fact that I hadn’t slept much the night before and my fridge had died.
Like I said, it was one of those days when I was feeling pretty awesome.
“We don’t actually own any sneakers. I am sure she will be fine in these today.” I said through clenched teeth.
Ah! How I love these grumpy folks!
It is just such fun to get snarled at on a semi-regular basis.
So what would you do in this situation?
I’ll tell you what I did. I went right out and found the world’s cutest sneakers.
And now I feel much better.

Liza I just am getting caught up on your blog. It’s no wonder you feel tired! Look at all that you accomplish! You are incredible! I love your blog. I love how it is a blog of the whole family too, and how I get to hear about everyone!
You are the best!
Also I applaud you for keeping your cool about the sneaker thing. I might have lost it and frightened by innocent child or something! Those really are some dang cute sneakers too. Where did you find them?

Are those Converse? They look like it… Super cute. How can she not own sneakers??? I think my kids will live in sneakers and flip flops.

Yes, they are converse, dear sister-in-law. And I found them at Nordstrom, dear sister.
Re: not owning sneakers. You know me, Niks! I am the same person who killed herself tracking down those yellow patten leather J. Crew flats for you – Millie also has a pair of J. Crew yellow flats. It is all about priorities. Mine are more about patten leather and less about practicality. Generally speaking sneakers are not cute, so they are not on the top of my “must buy for Millie” list. Ya know what I mean?
And just so you don’t think I am a total goober, I have bought sneakers for Millie, in the past – three or so pair. But I’ll be jiggered if she hasn’t gown out of all of them.
Coming full circle – back to the whole converse thing – I really want to get a picture of John and Millie in their twiner shoes. You with me?

Those sneakers fill my heart with immense satisfaction. I noticed them in your Sunday walk post and thought to myself (for the thousandth time): What a fabulously dressed niece I have. And what a fabulous sister I have who dresses her! Seriously, so cute!

I love these! They are functionally cute! Millie is very well dressed, but that doesn’t surprise me! I think you did really well to keep it together with that woman!

I have to agree with Bette, and everybody else too! Those sneakers are THE cutest, and I have the cutest nieces and nephews. PLEASE get a picture of Little John and Millie with the converses b/c that would be the ultimate picture of cuteness!

Ta-ha-rue dat, Tess! Millie and baby John-o in their converse would be so stinkin’ cute.

Yah, yah. They’re cute n’ all. But the question IS do they have any arch support? (I’m just kidding of course. Considering the theme of your post, I was trying to think what the approproiate grumpy New Jersey-ite response would be.)
